Week 2 Story

The Last Melon
There once was a young family that lived in middle of Springfield, MO.  As Springfield is a growing city, there are many opportunities for stores to open as there is a constant group of customers looking for a store to call their home. A skunk mother named Shea had recently moved to Springfield with her daughter, Libra. Shea had an amazing job as she was the CEO of her own company, Plug your Nose. This was a candle shop that had become a million-dollar business and had continued to rise in popularity. Libra began to grow and be hungry a lot. Shea continued to go to the store 3-4 times a week just to have enough food. Shea took Libra to the store for the first time and there was one thing she wanted, and she want melons.
The local store opened only a week after Shea moved to Springfield. The store was a hot spot for shoppers and the selection was very scarce. The fruit industry was having a rough time to fulfill the needs for fruit. When Shea and Libra travelled to the store there was one melon remaining. As Shea went to grab the melon someone else grabbed her hand on the melon. Shea turned to see the ugliest rhino she had ever seen. The rhino had a look in his eye and Shea was very concerned.
“What do you want rhino?” said Shea. The rhino replied with a smirk, “I want your daughter to come live with me.” Shea was astonished by the remark but wanted to have the melon for her daughter. She decided to let the rhino take her daughter and winked at her daughter as if she had a plan. The rhino took Libra back to his home, and Libra wasn’t on board at first with the situation, but she went with the situation and tried to make the best out of it. The rhino would change her life and Libra would never go back to her mom. Libra and the rhino would move out of the country to Mexico and would live happily ever after.
Author Notes:
I started the story while referencing an old story called Three Roses. I wanted my own spin, so I put Springfield, my hometown, as well as one of my favorite animals. There isn’t a lot to the story other than that I wanted to make a story that replicated one of my favorite Disney movies, Beauty and the Beast.

Reading Notes: Week 2 Anthology

There was only one story that really caught my eye.  The story "Three Roses" was a short story, but it really caught my attention while I was reading it. The story is a cool twist on the more recognizable story of Beauty and the Beast. I love to see a twist from the story that I watched growing up and it really brings back memories that I am super fond of. The story was kind of interesting when it started as the mom seemed to be the servant to her daughter. This was weird to think about so I read it again to make sure I read it right, because I was caught so off guard by the fact that the mom was serving her daughters. The second time around it was a little more clear, but the daughters seemed very spoiled. The final daughter just wanted roses which cause a free fall of events that would lead to her becoming a wife.  The third daughters request for roses could have turned deadly for the mother unless she gave the daughter to the monster that was the basilisk. This beast was the keeper of the roses at the palace that was walked up on by the mother. The only way she was leaving alive was with the promise that she would return with her daughter for the beast to have someone to nurse him. The nursing eventually led to the beheading of the beast. This seemed to be a symbol of the daughter conquering a fear of some kind, but immediately having another appear as a serpent came out of the beast. The daughter then beheaded the serpent which led to the reveal of a handsome, young man. This symbolizes the hardship that some go through, but it is always worth it as there is something at the end as long as you work and try to better your life. The story does a fine job with symbolism as it gives a short but powerful message on why you should never quit.

Time Strategies

Time management has always been a huge I have had since high school. I have gotten a lot better with I, but I still struggle with it. The article that really meant a lot was the The Important Habit of Just Starting. My biggest issue is just beginning the assignment for to study or anything school related. My biggest time challenge will be balancing work with my school work. Working for football takes a lot of time out of my week so being able to keep up with football and homework be a test. I don't really have a great time management plan yet, but I have slowly began a plan or getting work done as soon as I get it and then leave certain assignments to do at a later time.

Technology is Fum

The technology that we are using is pretty cool. I haven't had a class yet that really incorporated a blog as well as a wiki class page for all the work. I enjoy it a lot and I defiantly prefer it over the paper and pencil approach that I am use to. I have taken online classes before, but this is just different in the way it is set up and how assignments are completed and turned in.
Just a great comic https://images.app.goo.gl/1rQRewzdw1tEyec46

Assignment Stuff

I am really excited for the class to really get going. There are so many assignments that look really intriguing and fun to partake in. One assignment that looks really interesting is the Famous Last Words assignment that is in week 3. It sound so dramatic and cool to think about it. This a new concept for me as I have never really been able to schedule my own class and have the aid of my professor to do so. The Famous Last Words is an extra credit assignment that truly caught my eye as it caught it earlier.

The Growth Mindset

The growth mindset was a interesting thing to listen and learn about. The biggest thing I took from Carol was the education system issue she brought up. I have always thought that the United States education system has been lacking for a while as more and more students seem to feel unprepared for college and the workload and stress that comes with it. I was lucky and went to a high school that had a program to aid students in their transition. I loved her discussion on school being easy. It was nice to see someone that believed that for school to be worth while is that students needed to be challenge and not just given a free pass just because they tried their best. I love her quote, "We tell kids they should feel good when things were easy for them and they got everything right; that's a cause for celebration Not in my book. In my book it means you're not learning as much as you could." This quote is a little long but it captures the essence of being that smart kid that got everything right. It really meant that you were not fulfilling your full potential and missing out on a lot of information.

Introduction of I

My Big 12 ring that I received in the Spring.

Hello, my name is Ethan Brody and I am currently a junior at the University of Oklahoma. I am from Springfield, MO and lived there for all 18 years of my life before moving on to college. I originally chose OU for their meteorology program, but I made the switch to Creative Media Production last fall as I found a new passion through work. I know, crazy finding a passion through a campus job. I was hired as a videographer for the OU football team in the fall of my freshman year and still currently have to job. I worked my first full season last year and received a Big 12 championship ring. It is the dream job that any football fan would want. The job was such a good job that I changed my major due to being hired. The perks that come with the job are priceless and can’t wait to see what the future holds. I have made a lot of strides since changing my major. I went from a student that had to beg to be allowed to enroll last fall, to a student that is constantly improving and has raised their GPA every semester and will continue until I graduate. My favorite TV show is Spongebob and is easily one of the greatest shows of all time. It has humor for the whole family and it always makes my entire family laugh when we get the chance to be together which is rare. Soccer is my passion sport. I am always watching, looking, or doing something that involves soccer unless I am in class or at work. I love soccer and many people like it is weird to like a sport that is easily the 6th most popular sport in the United States. If you ever want to talk soccer, especially Manchester United, then I am your guy to talk to. Switching gears to music, I have to artists that stand out on my list of favorites. Those two are Logic and 6lack. Logic is a rapper while 6lack is a R&B artist that makes beautiful music. They both are awesome artists and highly recommend both of them if you are looking for new music to listen to.

My Storybook Favorites

1. Untold Stories of Spongebob https://sites.google.com/view/sponge-stories/home
I am a huge fan of Spongebob and seeing this storybook made my day! Spongebob is an all time great show and is cool to see that there is "untold" stories of the show. The introduction does a great job of panning out the storybook and how it is going to go. I love that the intro is in the view of Spongebob himself so it gives a different feel to the story. The design is very eye catching as it has videos and links to the story that the story kind of follows.
2. BOO-Mer Sooner Freshman Year https://sites.google.com/view/scarysooner/home
I am not a big scary story person, but it has grown on me over the past couple years. I love hearing stories of places that I go to and the things they may happen around that place. The title did hype it up a bit and I did feel I knew what was going to be coming from the storybook. The intro does a very nice of giving a little taste of what is to come with the storybook as it is unique and gives a story for a reader to get a feel of what is going to happen. The design is interesting, but doesn't give me the feel of a scary story. It seems to bright and colorful for it to be a great scary storybook.
3.  Baddass Biblical Women https://amandasmythandfolkstorybook.blogspot.com/
The title of the storybook is super sick and really was an eyeopener. It is really cool to see someone take a specific look at the women of the Bible and all the cool things that they did throughout the Bible. The intro is very bland and it is basic. It gets the point across of what the storybook is about but it isn't very eye-catching and doesn't make me want to read it as much as others. The overall design of the storybook is very boring, but the information makes up for the lack of color and pictures.

My Favorite Place

This picture was taken by me the morning of the Baylor game last football season. This is one of my favorite places on Earth. It is crazy to say that after being here for only two years, but that is just the impact it has had on me. I have amazing opportunities and I am blessed to have them every single day.

It is I, Ethan

This is my blog. Isn't it awesome!!!!
