Introduction of I

My Big 12 ring that I received in the Spring.

Hello, my name is Ethan Brody and I am currently a junior at the University of Oklahoma. I am from Springfield, MO and lived there for all 18 years of my life before moving on to college. I originally chose OU for their meteorology program, but I made the switch to Creative Media Production last fall as I found a new passion through work. I know, crazy finding a passion through a campus job. I was hired as a videographer for the OU football team in the fall of my freshman year and still currently have to job. I worked my first full season last year and received a Big 12 championship ring. It is the dream job that any football fan would want. The job was such a good job that I changed my major due to being hired. The perks that come with the job are priceless and can’t wait to see what the future holds. I have made a lot of strides since changing my major. I went from a student that had to beg to be allowed to enroll last fall, to a student that is constantly improving and has raised their GPA every semester and will continue until I graduate. My favorite TV show is Spongebob and is easily one of the greatest shows of all time. It has humor for the whole family and it always makes my entire family laugh when we get the chance to be together which is rare. Soccer is my passion sport. I am always watching, looking, or doing something that involves soccer unless I am in class or at work. I love soccer and many people like it is weird to like a sport that is easily the 6th most popular sport in the United States. If you ever want to talk soccer, especially Manchester United, then I am your guy to talk to. Switching gears to music, I have to artists that stand out on my list of favorites. Those two are Logic and 6lack. Logic is a rapper while 6lack is a R&B artist that makes beautiful music. They both are awesome artists and highly recommend both of them if you are looking for new music to listen to.

  1. Hi Ethan!
I enjoyed reading your post and getting to know a little but about you. It is so cool that you are a videographer for the football team! That sounds like a really fun job. Hopefully, you will be the proud owner of a second Big 12 championship ring after this season. I like 6LACK too. The song “Loyal” was my jam there for a minute.

  2. Hey Ethan! I'm a journalism major and shoot the games too, so we'll have to meet up on the field sometime! I am also a huge soccer fan. I've played since I was a little kid, and I'm a part of the club soccer team here at OU. It sucks that you're a Manchester United fan though; Chelsea all the way.

  3. Hi Ethan, you are a very interesting person. I think that people find inspiration in the weirdest places! I too changed my major from what I originally was going for to something totally different so I can understand how you feel! I think that your job sounds awesome and I’m glad it has inspired you to find a new career path and become a better student! Hard work pays off! I hope you get where your headed and it is everything you could want.

  4. Hey Ethan,

I can’t believe it is week 3 and I am just now finding out that you are in my class. It is so cool you shoot OU football as well because that is what I do! That ring looks very cool and I hope you get to show it off to a lot of people because that is lit. It is interesting that soccer is your passion because you have not mentioned it at all when we are at work. I was actually unaware of how popular soccer was, and that maybe because it does bore me but if you are passionate about it then more power to you! I hope you have a great semester my dude.

  5. Hi Ethan,

I'm happy you were able to find your passion while you were in college and do something to pursue it! Similar thing happened to me and it's an amazing experience. SpongeBob is one of my favorite shows as well, I love quoting it and laughing at older episodes. I've played soccer since I was in kindergarten so I'm kind of in the same boat with the soccer passion. I'm more invested in the World Cup(loved watching that this past summer!).

  6. Hi Ethan! It's so cool that you found your dream in shooting OU football! I work at The Daily and my friends who are videographers absolutely love shooting the games. It's cool that you came in as a meteorology major too; I always love bragging on my grandpa as he helped found the National Weather Center here. Oklahoma definitely is an awesome place to live if you are super interested in weather!

  7. Hello Ethan!
You are so lucky that you received a Big 12 Championship ring! I am on OU Spirit and was even on the field for the Big 12 game last year, and I didn't even receive one. I am just a tad jealous... but that is so cool that you work for OU Football, I am also a huge OU Football fan!

  8. Hey Ethan! I think it's awesome that you found a passion so compelling that you were motivated to change your major because of it. The fact that you're studying something you truly love and your grades have improved because of it goes to show that everyone can be successful so long as they know where to direct their talent. I hope you have a great semester!

  9. How cool that behind-the-scenes people in the football program get a Big 12 ring like that, Ethan! Wow! That is something to keep and to tell your kids and grandkids about. Wonderful! And yay for Spongebob! If you are ever at a loss for a storytelling idea some week, see if you can use Spongebob: there have been some great Spongebob-inspired stories both in this class and even in the Indian Epics class too! One of the students in Indian Epics this semester has Spongebob art in his Introduction; feel free to connect with him sometime if you want (there's an extra credit commenting thing where you can just explore the blog network and see what you find); here's his Introduction: Introduction to Wumbologist

  10. Hey Ethan! It is so cool that you got to get a Big 12 Championship ring with the football team last spring! I didn't know that people besides the players and coaches got rings, so I think it's so awesome that you get such a cool keepsake like that. It's cool that you love Spongebob so much; I grew up on Spongebob, so I understand your love for it. It's such a hilarious and timeless show, I think. Plus, I think it gets funnier as you get older, too. I look forward to getting to see more of your posts!

  11. Hey Ethan, it's nice to meet you!
I am actually a senior meteorology major, so that's cool to hear you came to OU for the program! That's great to know you found your passion in creative media production and get to do what you love at work (especially since you got a Big 12 ring for it!). Congratulations on making such a huge improvement and getting so close to graduation, I can imagine how much hard work that took! I also really enjoy Logic's music, the beats he creates and the lyrics he can come up with are so nice to listen to. Good luck this semester and with videography during the football season!

  12. Hey Ethan!
I also chose OU for its meteorology program but then ended up in Gaylord too (although I'm an ad major) – funny how quickly things change, huh? That's so cool that you found something you love through a campus job, especially with perks like getting a Big 12 ring! I bet you'll have a great time this semester on the field again, best of luck!

  13. Hi Ethan!

I find it so interesting that the most revealing moments of our life come at the most unexpected times. That is so exciting you had the opportunity to work for the football team. Although I don't know much about sports, so many of my friends are so passionate about it, and some even came only to OU because of the football! :)
That is so awesome you continue to improve each semester. Sometimes, it is hard to persevere after a hard year of finals, so it is amazing you are so driven to overcome new challenges.

  14. Hi Ethan! It’s nice to meet you! That is so awesome that you received a Big 12 championship ring for your work with the team. It’s also cool that your job made you change majors. I think that it is so important to be passionate about what you are learning, so I hope you are enjoying your new area of study. Good luck with the rest of this semester.

  15. Hey Ethan! I also worked for the football team doing camera stuff but I think my job was a little different. I worked during the spring semester and quit at the end of the semester, so I was never able to get a championship ring, but that was a hard job to give up! Nice meeting you, brother.

It's great to see that you found something that you're passionate about and to be able to work in your field so early on in your career is amazing! Receiving a big 12 championship ring must have been such an exciting experience! I hope the rest of your career continues to be just a rewarding! Best of luck to you!

  17. Hello! I'm so glad you have gotten back into the swing of things and continue to improve each and every day! That is something to be proud of because that takes a lot of effort, especially in the college setting. I also love SpongeBob, so that is something I can agree with you on there!

  18. Hi Ethan!
It is so awesome that you found something you are passionate about and are pursuing a degree in it! It must be a lot of fun to have such an up-close view of the games (although a lot of responsibility to make sure they're documented well, I imagine!) Do you play soccer on any local teams? Even though it's not as popular as many other sports in the U.S., it's definitely a fun one to play!

  19. Hey Ethan!

I enjoyed reading your intro. It's super cool that you work for the OU football program as a videographer! I bet that's an awesome experience. I also like soccer, and I'm a Chelsea fan (though I don't keep up with it much). It's cool that you like Logic, I went to a Logic concert once with my brother in OKC and it was really good. Have a good semester!

  21. Hi Ethan! I really enjoyed getting to know a little bit more about you! How cool that, although you were drawn to OU by the meteorology program, a campus job allowed you to discover your true passion! I think it is so important that you find a job that you are going to love doing every day, and I think you have done just that! Great intro!

  22. Howdy Ethan,
I can relate to you in the area of academics. I started out as an engineering major and was barely passing all of my classes. I changed to psychology and it was like night and day, all of my grades shot straight up. I love SpongeBob!!! It is an amazing show and me and my friends are constantly making references to it, It’s great!

  23. Hi Ethan!

I am so happy that you found your passion! It's funny to think how a campus job that was totally unrelated to your old major, transformed your college experience. Additionally, your job sounds so cool. I am a big football fan and would love to be able to be behind the scenes. I am so jealous of your Big 12 Championship ring!! Good luck this semester!
